Frequently Asked Questions
Is Curveball.gg free?
Yes. Curveball.gg is completely free to play and runs entirely in your web browser.
Do I need to download anything?
No. There is nothing to install. You play directly in your browser on desktop or mobile.
What is a baseball simulation?
A baseball simulation plays out games using your roster and lineup rather than requiring you to control every player. Curveball.gg simulates each game pitch by pitch and at-bat by at-bat.
How do live games work?
You open a lobby at The Grounds and play another manager. The game is simulated pitch by pitch and streamed live to your browser, with no fast-forward to the final score.
How do I get started?
Create a free account, build your club with a fresh rookie roster, set your lineup and pitching staff, then open a lobby to play your first game.
How do the playoffs work?
The playoffs happen on the single last day of each season, once the regular season standings are set. The bracket locks in at midnight UTC and the first round kicks off around 11:00 AM UTC, prime time for our mostly-US player base. Every round is single-elimination except the semifinals and the final, which are best-of-5. Games are spaced about 10 minutes apart, both between games in a series and between rounds, so a full bracket plays out over one day. The Grounds becomes a live bracket board for the day, so no new pickup games, but anyone can click in and watch. And if the bracket runs long, the new season will not start until it actually crowns a champion, even if that pushes past midnight.
How does pitcher rotation work during the playoffs?
Every club needs at least 3 starting pitchers year-round (and at least 5 pitchers total), so there are always enough arms to sustain a rotation. During the playoffs specifically, a starter who starts a game cannot start again for that club’s next 2 playoff games. With exactly 3 starters, that cycles perfectly with no forced days off. The rotation picker shows a clear "Resting" indicator on any starter who is not yet eligible to start again, so you always know who is available before first pitch.
